There are a number of reasons that your Frenchie may have a seizure ranging from heatstroke and epilepsy, to even poisoning. The Animal Poison Control Center claims that the trigger can be found in a toxic exposure too.
If you have ever seen your dog having a seizure, then there’s no doubt that it can be distressing. But knowing the causes of these episodes and what to do if they happen again might make things easier for both pet owners and their furry companions.
The first sign that your dog might be experiencing a seizure is usually muscle twitching, eye-rolling, or uncontrollable jerking movements. The treatment will depend on an underlying cause. After performing several tests, your vet will determine whether it’s idiopathic epilepsy or not. Idiopathic epilepsy means there isn’t a specific cause determined. In most cases, a dog gets the appropriate medications. Besides, keeping a seizure diary is also important since it will help you see if there’s any improvement.
