Similar to humans, when a canine is exposed to an allergen, it will show an allergic reaction. Hives on Frenchies are usually not life-threatening, but you should visit your vet to discover the trigger for such occurrence. Let’s discover what could be the causes of this condition.
Common causes of hives and swelling of the Frenchie’s face are caused by the following:

Another treatment includes applying topical creams that will calm itchiness and help the hives go away. They’re often rich in steroids, so you should not include them too often in your pet’s care. Frequent use of steroidal creams can thin out the skin and make it more susceptible to infections.
If your French bulldog’s skin came in contact with an environmental allergen, I recommend you immediately rinse his coat. Do not use hot water, but only pleasantly warm water that will provide your Frenchie with a calming effect.
Since itchiness often ends up with cuts and bruises, some vets give dogs oral antibiotics as well. They serve to protect your pet from infections and other complications.
French bulldog allergies are one of the worst nightmares of every dog owner. They can occur very often if you don’t know to discover the trigger on time.
